🎎 This vintage Japanese NeoGuardian statue depicts one of the fierce Niō, the guardian figures traditionally stationed at the entrance of Buddhist temples. These muscular protectors, often called Kongō Rikishi, are believed to ward off evil spirits and safeguard sacred spaces. This particular figure, with its powerful stance and expressive face, reflects the artistry of mid-Showa period temple crafts. Slightly smaller than the monumental statues found at temple gates, it makes a striking and authentic piece of Japanese spiritual art for home display.
