🎎 This finely crafted ceramic plate captures the warm, smiling face of Daikoku, one of Japan’s revered Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin). Depicted with his iconic bales of rice and luck-bringing mallet, Daikoku symbolizes prosperity, abundance, and good fortune. In Japanese tradition, he is honored in both Buddhist and Shinto contexts, embodying wealth for households and businesses alike.
Dated to the Taishō period (1912–1926) by the antique dealer from whom it was acquired, this piece is in very good condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on the face, though the foot ring bears small chips and wear from decades of use—testament to its history as an object both functional and cherished. Subtle discoloration on the foot adds depth to its patina and authenticity.
