Japanese Teruterubozu - Miniature Plastic Model

$14.00

Description

Brand new, very small (please see size information below) Japanese teruterubozu rain charm plastic model.  Teruterubozu are typically made on rainy days by Japanese children who assemble the figures using cloth or tissue tied with bits of string.  The resulting charm bears a resemblance to a western-style ghost, though the purpose of teruterubozu is simply to frighten away inclement weather.  After the dolls are assembled they are hung from the eves while the little ones chant "Teruterubozu, terubozu please bring sunshine tomorrow".  If the weather clears the children will then paint happy faces on the heads of their worthy rain charms.
